North Andover, MA....January 21, 2009 Watts is pleased to introduce the new FloodSafe Water Detector Shutoff. The FloodSafe Series WDS is a unique, resettable product that not only shuts off the water supply to protect against property damage caused by a leaking water heater, but also removes the source of power to the water heater to prevent water heater explosion. If the FloodSafe detects water from the discharge of a temperature and pressure relief valve under emergency conditions, power to the water heater is removed immediately, protecting a home or business against the danger of explosion.
The FloodSafe Series WDS's control unit, mounted to the water shutoff valve, houses the circuitry, audible and visual alarms, silence button and connector sockets. When activated the control unit shuts off the water supply and the power source to the water heater and actuates an alarm which can be wired to a monitored alarm system. The FloodSafe's detector pad senses as little as 1/16 inch of standing water to initiate the shutoff and alarm sequence. The FloodSafe can be easily installed on new or existing water heaters with no special piping required. Models are available for Gas, Oil, and Electric water heaters and sized for 3/4 inch and 1 inch water supply lines.
