Established after World War Two, the Plafkin Family was the first in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area to purchase large quantities of fastener inventories--case in point Truscott Boat Company, Benton Harbor, Michigan, whose fastener inventory of brass, bronze, everdure, and monel lasted more than 20 years. The name Plafkin was synonymous with the Grand Rapids Bolt and Nut Company which was a division of Plafkin Brothers. The Plafkin Family also aided and represented Solar Screw Company, Addison, Illinois--supplying the company orders from Steelcase and other industries in the area. The Plafkin Family was directly responsible for the success and development of Solar Screw Company.
