A recent enquiry from a manufacture of aircraft landing gear posed the challenge of reducing raw material costs by 30%. With the requirement being for a super stainless grade, this represented a huge saving in cash terms for the customer. The Forge were able to come up with a process route which got the forging close to the finished size, resulting in total savings of over 50% of the original cost, when the customer's machining costs were taken into account.
