The product range includes open die forgings in carbon and alloy grades, plus special stainless steels. Typical forged products are spindles, con rods, bosses, blocks, rings and cylinders, as well as bespoke forgings to a customer's unique specification.
Hillfoot Forge is a leading supplier of open die forgings into the most sophisticated of market sectors. A recent enquiry from a manufacture of aircraft landing gear posed the challenge of reducing raw material costs by 30%. With the requirement being for a super stainless grade, this represented a huge saving in cash terms for the customer. The Forge were able to come up with a process route which got the forging close to the finished size, resulting in total savings of over 50% of the original cost, when the customer's machining costs were taken into account.
