In 1989, Prof. Brian Moores formed the Scottish Quality Management Centre, as an extension to Stirling University's work in Management Science.

By August 1990, Fellow of the Institute of Quality Assurance (now Chartered Quality Institute - CQI), Ian Hannah, had taken over from Prof. Moores, in the role of Director of Programmes.

In January 1998, Ian left the University to expand SQMC's QMS/ISO 9000 training capabilities as a limited company, and increased his select team of specialist Associates.
